Annual Parapet Observations Are Mandatory in East Village
Under NYC rule 1 RCNY 103-15 (effective January 1, 2024), every building in East Village, Manhattan with a parapet — regardless of height — must have a qualified professional complete an annual observation report. This covers parapets fronting the public right-of-way as well as cornices, guardrails, antennas, and other appurtenances attached to them.
If you own or manage property in East Village, the responsibility falls on you to keep these observations current and on file. Parapet Crazy handles Manhattan buildings every week and knows exactly what the NYC Department of Buildings expects in the report.
